My Story
I was born on the Apache Indian Reservation in East Fork, AZ. My parents were both Parochial school teachers, which is the influence I was around my whole life. Thus, I always wanted to be a teacher. I graduated from DMLC in New Ulm in 1989. I was assigned to teach at St. John's in Milwaukee. I taught here two years before marrying Tod Vertz in 1991. While he vicared in Kenosha, WI, Beth taught in Racine. It was during this year that our daughter Laura, was born. After Tod graduated from the Seminary, the Vertz's moved to South Dakota. While here, Michael and Sara were born. In 1998, the family moved to Reedsburg, WI. Tod was pastor at Faith Lutheran Church and I did in-home day care. In 2007, I received a Call to teach at St. John's , Baraboo, WI. In 2012, Tod received a Call to be pastor at St. Paul in Grant Park, IL. We lived there for five years. While there, I worked at a home for men with special needs, was a lead teacher at KinderCare, and then taught 3-4-5 year olds at Trusting Hearts Early Childhood in Palos Heights. The Vertz's have been in Sturgeon Bay since 2017. I have taught at Zion, Egg Harbor, and St. Paul's, Algoma. Having four special grandchildren is one of the many blessings that God has provided. Lydia is 4, Emery is 3, Lainey is 8 months and Hudson is 6 months. We love to spend time with our kids and grandbabies. Thank you, Jesus, for the opportunity to teach your little lambs at St. Peter's.
